It is fairly unusual for me to notice the music in anime unless it really stands out. This is not a bad thing in itself, because not noticing it can be a sign of it blending in very well with the anime itself. Sometimes the music can also stand out so much it actually becomes distracting (which is my biggest concern with the Hunter x Hunter (2011) remake).
But every now and then we have anime with such gorgeous music that I directly look up the soundtrack. It is the kind of music that stands out without detracting from the experience. The music may not always be put to good use by the studio at times, sadly, but it still remains kickass in its own way.
This year had some great new anime OSTs I wish to share with you, one track at a time. Continue reading →
Note: It is suggested that you watch Eureka Seven AO before reading this post, but it is not necessary. It is divided into three parts so that anyone can read it: 1. Relatively spoiler-free thoughts on the characters. 2. Spoilers on Eureka Seven AO. 3. Spoilers on Eureka Seven AO and Eureka Seven. Each section is clearly marked.
It has now been a while since Eureka Seven AO finished and I feel like it is time to share some of my thoughts on the series. I will avoid going too deep into the details since I do not remember them all, which is not that odd considering how the series introduces lots of ideas but never really does anything with them and the fact that I never really like it to begin with.
In other words, if you see some mistake, please call me out on it! When I someday re-watch it in the near future, I will go through every episode and point out the flaws. You can view this post, along with the other coming two, as scattered thoughts on what I believe the Eureka Seven AO did wrong.
Eureka Seven AO may not have been the sequel I had anticipated, wasting ten episodes at absolutely nothing and now becoming the mind screw of the year with absolutely no signs of redemption, but one thing it has managed is to produce a new and shiny kickass opening worthy the name Eureka Seven.
Called “BravBlue” and performed by FLOW, the same band which did the original Eureka Seven’s first opening, “Days”, one could probably figure that there would be some similarities between the two openings. Not too surprisingly, this turned out to be the case. In addition, the new opening is also chock-full of information regarding AO’s future plot. But that is not all! It also pays homage to the original series on a few instances.
This post contains thoughts regarding Eureka Seven AO’s second opening and points out the homages to the original series. In other words, unless you have watched the original Eureka Seven, the movie and up to episode 14 of AO, stay away from this post.Continue reading →
With school soon over, there will be plenty of time for good weekly scheduling for blog posts. As the situation stands today, I cannot say I am very proud over the results, with tons of posts one month and barely any in another. The following summer will be a lot of fun in return, I can assure you!
But now, it is time for my impressions of the spring 2012 season! Hope you enjoy it! Continue reading →
